The Yukon Extreme is by far the most versatile, longest-burning headlamp in the Princeton Tec line. You’ll have the ability to switch between a piercing, high-power Xenon bulb for long-range, high-intensity requirements and three regulated Ultrabright LEDs for camp activities and casual trail navigation. The advanced circuit system of the Yukon Extreme allows you to choose from four brightness levels of light output to satisfy mountaineers, adventure racers, cyclists, cold-weather climbers, backpackers and campers. The compact, remote, 8-AA battery pack can be clipped to your waist or other gear to minimize the weight on your head. In cold weather, wearing the battery pack under clothing, close to your body, will increase alkaline battery efficiency and run times. The Yukon Extreme is designed to work with alkaline, lithium, and rechargeable batteries.
Regulated LED/Constant Brightness
Princeton Tec lights that feature regulated LEDs have a sophisticated regulating circuit that maintains initial brightness as long as the batteries have sufficient voltage. Traditional lights are very bright initially, but immediately begin to dim and continue to dim until the batteries are drained. Constant Brightness is a term used to describe products that have regulated LEDs.
Multiple Beam
This beam pattern combines focused narrow beams and focused wide beams to allow for the most versatility. At close range, the focused wide beams simulate normal daylight conditions so you to take advantage of your peripheral vision. The focused narrow beams create a long-throw spotlight ideal for night hiking and search and rescue.
Waterproof Rating Level 1
Waterproof rating Level 1 is assigned to lights that offer a degree of water protection equivalent to IPX4 in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. Lights rated at Level 1 are designed for water resistance to splashing and quick dunkings. If a light with a Level 1 rating is accidentally submerged for a longer period of time, the batteries should be removed and the cabinets should be carefully inspected for signs of battery leakage. If water has entered the housing, the light should be dried and batteries replaced.
Ultrabright LED
The highest quality LED available from Nichia, the Ultrabright LED is bright and efficient. The smooth, white, wide-beam light emitted by Ultrabright LEDs is ideal for close- to mid-range tasks. Ultrabright LEDs are usually grouped together to offer a more powerful light source. Advances currently underway will continue to improve the efficiency and brightness of Ultrabright LEDs.
Xenon Incandescent Bulbs
Xenon bulbs use a special type of halogen gas. Xenon bulbs come closest to replicating the color temperature of daytime light. They also generate about twice the brightness and consume about half the power of traditional halogen bulbs.
